ADOTSAV- acronym for Advertisers’ Uthsavam - was started in the late 80’s appreciating the ancient saying “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. The Ad Club initiated the programme, extending over three to four hours of entertainment by way of music (vocal and instrumental) in Carnatic and Pop schools, Dumb Charade, Skits, Impromptu Acts and mimicry, provided by the talented among the members.
There was fun, without malice, of clients, copywriters and account executives in the skits. Every event was presided by culture vultures from the industry, tinsel world and media barons. In some years the event carried titles like “Boom Blast” or “KABOOM” and attracted huge audiences. After a gap of about 10 years, Adotsav was revived in the Golden Jubilee year of Ad Club and was held on 7th April 2006 to celebrate the 50th Birthday of the Club.
