Mr. N Murali, Managing Director of The Hindu was the chief guest at the function which also included an entertainment show, besides the awards distribution. Others who presented awards included

Mr. Murali also inaugurated the website of the Madras Ad Club.
The awards celebrated communication that that was focused on the Tamizh consumer. A total of 366 entries were received in 26 categories from 46 different entrants. Entries came in from advertising agencies, media agencies, media houses, film producers, production houses and directly from advertisers as well.
Ogilvy and Mather (2 gold, 5 silver, 3 bronze) got the ‘Sakalakalavallavan’ award - the trophy for the maximum metals. JWT (3 gold, 4 bronze) came a close second.
The brands that won their respective agencies most prizes across a number of categories were The Times of India Chennai, Hello FM , TVS Star City , Chinni’s (Cavinkare), and Vodafone.
